Important results from the project

Our initial goal was to attract 10k free users, but we shifted the focus towards monetizing customer personas, as recommended by the mentors in the SSE Business Lab. This approach resulted in us being able to engage 100 users with 16 MaU, which is well into the sales cycle. In academia, most Swedish institutions have shown interest, especially SciLifeLab. In industry, we have identified customer profiles and are in discussions with two R&D companies and initiated discussions with research foundations.

Expected long term effects

The project has improved our application for academic and industrial peronas, such as bibliometricians and R&D companies, through a new user interface, creating a landing page, expanding our database from 100K to 30M researchers, and by strengthening our marketing and team. These improvements have fostered academic collaborations with e.g. SciLifeLab and KTH program managers. In the industrial sector, we have initiated talks with several large R&D companies, while we are also in talks with various research-related foundations.

Approach and implementation

Following initial interviews with KTH´s MSc and PhD students, we significantly revamped our tool based on feedback, enhancing the landing page, improving user-friendliness, and expanding our database from 10K to 30M scientists. Guided by SSE Business Lab and with an expanded team, we shifted our focus towards revenue-generating customers instead of many free users. A subsequent round of interviews helped us identify key customer personas, enabling us to effectively target universities, R&D companies, and research foundations through various channels.
