Important results from the project

The aim has been to support the Swedish steel industry´s ambition to implement the climate roadmap, through strategic process development, prioritised measures, and research-based decisions. With the aim of establishing coordination, the Samforsk Climate initiative was launched. The project has created synthesis and overview of needs and activities, contributed to prioritization, initiated activities, mobilized resources and skills, gathered companies, offered project support, communicated results, promoted new technologies, and identified necessary skills.

Expected long term effects

The project has met the goals and has, in an agile and comprehensive way, captured and structured the steel industry´s research to achieve the climate roadmap, which is also summarized in a synthesis report. Through dialogue, seminars and meetings, the steel industry´s needs have been presented in a broader arena, which has led to new collaborations and activities. In the long term, the results, including Samforsk climate, systematization, and information, are expected to provide continued support and knowledge for the industry to achieve the climate roadmap implementation.

Approach and implementation

The project had four work packages. 1) Analysis of the current situation, where information about ongoing projects and possible financing was collected 2) Preparation of activities, which created the brand and platform, priority map and expanded network 3) Implementation of the coordination function and initiation of new projects, which coordinated new projects and disseminated information, and 4) Follow-up and evaluation, which analyzed and created synthesis of the coordination function and proposed measures for the next step.
