Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** BioInnovation´s objective is to create the best conditions for developing the Swedish bio-based sector and create sustainable solutions for a global market. The purpose of this project was to coordinate the program´s activities and plan and develop new calls for proposals, provide project support and stimulate collaboration. This has been fulfilled well, which was also shown in the 9-year evaluation made by Sweco in 2023.

Expected long term effects

Sweco´s 9-year evaluation shows that BioInnovation has strongly contributed to the development of a circular bioeconomy and has played an important role by providing Swedish actors with the necessary competence and competence development for the circular bioeconomy. In addition, cooperation between industries has been strengthened. The effects can only be seen some time after the end of programme, but the companies have high expectations for effects that bring profits both for the bio-based circular economy as a whole as well as for individual companies.

Approach and implementation

The calls for proposals that BioInnovation has carried out has proven to be very successful. Hypothesis testing in 2 steps with as simple an application procedure as possible has attracted many organizations. The thematic the calls for proposals with larger budgets and consortia provide other opportunities for collaborations within bio-based innovation and the large system-changing projects that we call innovation projects have strongly contributed to a renewal of industries. The program has been continuously developed and lessons have been learned before each new round.
