Complex Event Processing as a Service

Reference number
Coordinator DIGITAL ROUTE AB - DIGITAL ROUTE AB, Stockholm
Funding from Vinnova SEK 3 500 000
Project duration November 2012 - December 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project is to create a Cloud-based Complex Event Processing (CEP) application. This will be achieved through further development of the DigitalRoute MediationZone product. The need for such an application is driven by the automation of society and the digitisation of information at near exponential speeds. The CEP product category thus creates value out of data that originates from disparate sources. The category also termed automated decisioning -- is booming. It is central to the Big Data trend.

Expected results and effects

The result is that our existing telecom mediation platform has transformed into a general big data enablement platform. Now cloud compatible, multi-tennant and with connectors to common big-data storage platforms such as hadoop, netezza and hana, users are now capable of processing any type of data (sources in real-time streaming or file based), manipulate it to reduce it or correlate it, and forward it to an analysis platform. Operators and enterprises to gain advantage out of data that is anyway there (being created), but currently unmanageable because of it´s quality and volume.
