Important results from the project

- To implement an annual R&D survey that describes companies´ views on conditions of importance for investment in R&D. -To make visible the development of business and industry R&D investments and the problems -To analyze and increase the understanding of what drives the localization of investments in research and development and what is considered to constitute such investments. -To formulate evidence-based policy proposals for how the business sector´s R&D investments in Sweden can increase.

Expected long term effects

The annual "R&D barometer" has become an important tool that is noticed in the press, by various actors and by politicians. The project has carried out two major seminar activities in 2019 and 2020 at the presentation of the results. In 2019, the seminar was held in IVA´s Wallenberg Hall and was well attended. The media also paid attention to the R&D barometer. Today´s industry wrote a full page about the project and the results. In 2020, a webcast presentation of the results was carried out. Among others, Minister of Trade and Industry Ibrahim Baylan, and R&D managers.

Approach and implementation

Initiation / organization of the project has been completed The project has been formed with a steering group, project manager, communicator and project coordinator. Two working groups have been initiated (1) expert group which is responsible for the relevance of the survey questions and the content of the survey. (2) a policy group working to develop and produce policy proposals based on the results of the survey. The goal is for the barometer to continue to be published annually for at least 10 years.
