Important results from the project

The aim was to investigate whether co-working can foster collaboration between governmental authorities. Inspiration, collaboration, and increased creativity emerged in the results. Participants in organized activities have achieved a higher level of problem-solving and new ideas. Effect is more apparent at the individual level than at the organizational level. Co-working space is used to meet new people, gain inspiration, and learn new things. The follow-up research shows that 79% are satisfied.

Expected long term effects

The participants used the co-working office differently than their usual office. They also found it somewhat easier to detach from work when leaving Samverket. The purpose of being at Samverket varied. We have seen that immersing oneself in collaboration yields results. The challenge has been having/taking time Success factors includes a committed community manager, a creative, neutral environment in a central location. Also, sending the "right people", those who are motivated by and benefit from collaborating. Finally, the importance of a neutral, creative environment.

Approach and implementation

We combined quantitative and qualitative methods. Surveys consisting of validated research measures, open-ended questions, and unique questions were sent out on three occasions, with 55-86 respondents (30-38% response rate). We conducted 30 interviews with key individuals and participants from 20 organizations. Finally, we used participatory observation with use of the co-working environment and participation in office activities, as participant and as organizer. We have exploratively investigated co-working and have been able to measure development longitudinally.
