Important results from the project

The proposal identifies key barriers to effective exchange between civil and military innovation ecosystems, including lack of mutual understanding, complex regulations, rigid procurement processes, balancing speed with security, and cultural differences. A new military-industry innovationstructure is proposed, focusing on flexibility, speed and efficient use of resources.

Expected long term effects

The expected long-term effects include improved collaboration between civil and military innovation ecosystems, faster development and implementation of new defense technologies, enhanced ability to meet new security challenges, strengthened competitiveness of Swedish defense industry, more efficient resource utilization through civil-military synergies, broader participation of SMEs in defense innovation, more flexible procurement processes, and improved interoperability with allied nations.

Approach and implementation

The project began with extensive analysis of international synergies in innovation and defence. Based on strategic dialogues, workshops, and conferences and study visits with civil-military delegations to, among others, the USA and the UK, a proposal for an infrastructure and a policy document was developed. The proposal proposes a new complementary system that bridges the gap between civilian and military innovation, focusing on flexibility, speed and efficient resource use.
