Important results from the project
Within the project, we have improved communication between universities in Sweden and relevant authorities to create the best possible conditions for continued research and development within the field. Communication has improved from both sides, i.e. the researchers have a clearer picture of the authorities´ strategies, priorities and needs, while NV has gained increased knowledge of ongoing research. The focus has initially been on improving communication and exchange of experience between UU and NV, and has since been extended to other universities and authorities.
Expected long term effects
The project has contributed to an increased knowledge within contaminated sediments in general for the authorities and also a better understanding of the authority´s work for the university researchers. This has led to a wider network that provides new and expanded perspectives within the field. The project has shown that authorities can act as a bridge between ongoing research projects and thereby contribute to synergies between them. An unexpected results is that the problem linked to methane gas emissions is now handled as part of the pollution problem in sediments.
Approach and implementation
The project was spread over 2 years, which facilitated the implementation of several activities. NV has participated in a course at UU, Alizée has participated in the unit´s weekly meetings, in RUFS meetings, and in other meetings such as the general meeting with SGI and SGU. We have organized several events; the most important was the research conference in December 2023, where approximately 50 people participated, both from authorities and the universities. Alizée has also participated in the research unit´s work in organizing and moderating meetings with NV-funded projects.
