Important results from the project
The project aimed to investigate whether infrasound technology can be used to make gasification of biomass more efficient to reduce biogas production costs. After the completion of satge 1, the project team assesses that the technology has great potential and thus that there is great reason to continue the project to further develop the technology together with the needs owner. An important goal was to achieve a continuous process which has been achieved as well as a steady state which has created the conditions for analyzing the gas content.
Expected long term effects
The result of the project is a functioning test facility that has created the conditions for determining whether biomass can be gasified more effectively with infrared sound. The gasification side of a pellet in the test plant is about 16 seconds which is considerably shorter than with existing technology. The tractor can also be made very compact. Tests also give indications of a very low oxygen excess and that the gas is clean immediately after the reaction chamber, which means that the cost of subsequent purification steps will probably be reduced.
Approach and implementation
The project has involved close collaboration with continuous follow-up meetings with ongoing actors, where Infrasonik and Midroc have been the largest project partners. This has created the conditions for maintaining a holistic perspective throughout the project and the connection between technological development and the market´s needs. Technological development has been carried out with an agile working methodology where the reactor has been reconstructed on several occasions, and has been necessary to find necessary solutions to challenges that have arisen.
