Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to validate an innovative process for the safe and sustainable reuse of single-use medical devices. The goal is to lay the foundation for circular healthcare systems that reduce both costs and environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to result in a validated and documented process for the safe reuse of selected single-use medical devices. The results will demonstrate that reprocessing can be achieved with maintained functionality and safety while significantly reducing resource use and environmental impact. In the long term, the project is expected to promote circularity, lower healthcare costs, and strengthen supply resilience within the healthcare sector

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be carried out in several stages: development of a cleaning method, testing of functional and material performance, and verification of biological safety in collaboration with accredited laboratories. The work will follow relevant ISO standards and MDR requirements. All results will be documented and compiled to support CE marking of the first reprocessed product within the project’s scope.
