Purpose and goal

The project will create the conditions for Swedish participation in a proposal within "HORIZONCL4-2026-01-MATERIALS-PRODUCTION-14: Improving availability of secondary raw materials through recycling". Swerim, together with Jönköpings Technical university college (JTH), Volvo cars, Stena aluminium and NG Nordic, are part of an international consortium discussing the project. The goal is a proposal with a focus on circular flows in the aluminium industry.

Expected effects and result

Swerim wants to work together with JTH and Volvo to understand how the proportion of secondary aluminum can increase in high-pressure die casting of large car components, MEGA casting. Furthermore, Swerim wants to work together with NG Nordic and Stena aluminum to improve the yield in the process of extracting metallic aluminium from bottom ash from waste incineration. The effect of the project will be an increased amount of available secondary aluminum within Europe.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is support to enable Swedish participation in a consortium that is preparing a proposal within "HORIZONCL4-2026-01-MATERIALS-PRODUCTION-14: Improving availability of secondary raw materials through recycling". The approach is that Swerim, together with JTH and the companies, develop project descriptions for the activities we want to pursue. Swerim and JTH actively participate in the development of the project proposal together with the coordinator and the rest of the consortium.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
