Purpose and goal

The overall purpose of the project is to strengthen the capacity for regional innovation ecosystems in Sweden to adopt a coordinated ecosystem approach to regional development. The long-term desired outcome of the project is to contribute to increased harmonisation and more effective regional and national innovation systems.

Expected effects and result

The project will build capacity for system change and innovation in ecosystems by - contributing with state of art method development linked to ecosystem coordination in regional settings that can be disseminated nationally and internationally - Foster awareness and understanding among 21 Swedish Regions of the “ecosystem approach” - Build demand for and incentives among regional actors to implement these concepts within their respective regions - Foster a common ecosystem literacy within Swedish Regions around the “ecosystem approach”

Planned approach and implementation

WP 1 will focus on analysing, unfolding, and identifying best practices to uncover the need for support and capacity-building in ecosystem coordination. Includes: co-creation of a common narrative for the coordinated ecosystem approac, collection and synthesis of data, uncovering the support and capacity needs, and packaging these insights into new knowledge products. WP 2 builds on the outputs generated in Work Package 1 and entails a series of seminars and communication efforts to create awareness and incentivize regional actors to employ an ecosystem development approach.
