Purpose and goal

This project combines knowledge and experience from five leading Swedish manufacturers and research competence of RISE and Chalmers to build-up a sustainable and resource-efficient supply chain resilience capability in Swedish manufacturing industry. The overall purpose is to accelerate the build-up by developing and integrating strategies and working methods of a more reconfigurable supply chain design and integrated and new ways of dynamic supply chain planning into a hyperresponsive and sustainable production system.

Expected effects and result

Methods and tools will be generated to quickly adopting a structural configuration in the supply chain design and -planning to create a better “fit” between type of response and the disruptive event. New supply chain planig interventions are tested with the companies as test beds. The results will strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturers by transitioning towards more resilient value chains, characterized of preparedness to major global crisis, reduced overuse of resources and better access to unique technology or scarce capacity controlled by other companies.

Planned approach and implementation

The project combines co-creative and comparative studies with learning cycles within and across work packages and partner organisations, and with specific SME extracting and validation. This enhances the transferability of outcome across organisations already during the project period. Use case and vulnerability mapping will identify gaps between practice and needs. Design- and scenario-studies propose supply chain reconfiguration and planning mechanisms and interventions to close the gaps between practice and needs.
