Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to support a shift from regional public transport authorities to regional mobility authorities. The goals are to develop, test, validate, and disseminate organizational models that promote the systematic integration of public transport and cycling on a broad scale.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to deliver four results: a vision for the systematic integration of public transport and cycling in Västra Götaland, identified organizational barriers, developed and tested organizational models, and method development supporting the shift to regional mobility authorities. The intended effects are that the developed models are implemented in Västra Götaland and contribute to similar changes in other regions.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is coordinated by RISE but is based on close collaboration with Region Västra Götaland, K2 - the Swedish Knowledge Centre for Collective Mobility, The Swedish Cycling Research Centre (VTI), Region Stockholm and Svensk Kollektivtrafik. The process is divided into three phases: first, defining a vision for systematic integration of public transport and cycling; second, developing a consolidated problem statement; and third, developing and testing new organizational models.
