Purpose and goal

Nordic Life Science Days aimed to expose the Swedish and Nordic life science, broadly defined, to an international audience, with the stated goal of attracting investment to the region and to increase the number of partnerships between companies and organizations. The conference attracted a large number of participants and a significant portion of the delegates came from outside the Nordic countries, most from Europe but also from Asia and North America. The partnering system was utilized to its maximum capacity.

Results and expected effects

Registered delegates was 647 from 350 companies in 20 countries. 562 delegates participated in nearly 1,000 partnering meetings and the ´acceptance rate´ was very high. The conference program involved 98 speakers and panelists. A number of major international companies and 73 smaller companies introduced themselves via business presentations and pitches. Investors described their needs in short pitches. In the exhibition 47 organizations and agencies were represented. The impact of the conference is expected to be an increased number of investments and collaborations.

Approach and implementation

The conference was produced by SwedenBIO with the Nordic sister organizations as co-sponsors. The conference program was devised by SwedenBIO in consultation with the involved organizations and resulted in a broad program of relevance to the life science sector. Investors, delegates from companies and organizations and exhibitors were recruited via an extensive international marketing campaign. The partnering system was provided by a market leading organization which guaranteed appropriate and high functionality.
