Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to test if it was possible to create transparent conductive films (TCF) based on Bright Day Graphene (BDG) graphene produced from biomass. This was done in collaboration with Peafowl Solar Power (PSP) which made conducting films from the water-based suspensions developed by BDG.
Expected long term effects
It is possible to make transparent films from BDGs graphene, but additional work needs to be done to avoid current losses that happens in between the flakes. The tests show that the films do have a n-p junction after a certain amount of graphene has been applied, which means that they have diode properties. It is also possible to make water-based suspensions with BDGs graphene. The reference material on the other hand resulted in thick black films that cannot be used as TCFs.
Approach and implementation
BDG produced graphene and developed water-based suspensions with the graphene that was delivered to PSP. PSP made films from the suspensions, which were analyzed with I-V curves and AFM to measure the current conducting properties and the morphology of the films. The method that PSP developed for both preparation of the glass onto which the graphene was applied, as well the way to controllably spray the graphene suspension were both successful and scalable.
