Call Planning grant for international proposal 2025

Purpose and goal

Chronic wounds present a global problem for which novel solutions are required to improve the quality of life of people suffering from them. We aim to develop a new bioelectric wound dressing to address this issue. Throughout BiaDerm we will validate our technology further, demonstrating its application in ex vivo human skin tissue. Furthermore, we will consolidate a consortium of highly qualified partners to submit a proposal to the EIC Transition fund for further development.

Expected effects and result

Through BiaDerm, we will validate our technology in human skin models, gathering evidence of the effectiveness of electrical stimulation in accelerating wound healing. We will consolidate an interdisciplinary consortium consisting of highly qualified partners capable of driving innovation forward while complying with all relevant medical device standards. Finally, we will write and submit a proposal for the EIC Transition to secure 2.5 million euros.

Planned approach and implementation

We will develop the required devices to test electrical stimulation in collaboration with certified partners with a track record of evaluating wound therapies on human skin. We will approach previously identified partners and perform on-site visits to their facilities, establishing firm relationships and gathering all required information for the consolidation of a consortium. We will work with a consultancy company to update and improve our previous EIC transition application.
