Purpose and goal

Batt:RY addresses critical information management barriers in circular supply chains for electric vehicle batteries. The project explores and enables the implementation of Digital Product Passport (DPP) at two heavy-duty vehicle OEMs together with a 3PL and remanufacturer to create a data-driven framework. This also facilitates optimized return logistics and intelligent decision support for efficient battery circularity and resource recovery.

Expected effects and result

The Batt:RY project delivers and demonstrates frameworks and pilot systems for information management, enabling traceable, efficient reverse logistics and reliable decision-making in circular supply chains for electric vehicle batteries. These solutions enable OEMs, logistics service providers and remanufacturers to optimize resource use, ensure regulatory compliance and support reuse and recycling strategies.

Planned approach and implementation

The project begins with ecosystem mapping and business analysis, then defines and validates information and traceability requirements to enable circularity for electric vehicle batteries. A digital product passport framework and a decision support system for reverse logistics are developed and tested. Insights from OEMs and stakeholders are integrated through workshops, interviews and cross-case analyses, and the results are widely disseminated across various platforms.
