Reference number
Coordinator CBOT AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 000 000
Project duration April 2014 - December 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project was to develop a functional prototype for a tiling machine and test and evaluate it in the field. This goal is met and the results of field tests are very promising. From this project we have achieved a good position to move forward with the product development of a machine with the goal to take on an international market for tiling machines valued at $ 5.4 billion per year.

Results and expected effects

As a result of the project we have managed to eliminate most of the technical risks identified at the project start. Several inventions have been identified, and the work to protect these inventions has started. During the field tests we had good discussions with the tilers, which ensures further development will produce a product that fulfilles all customer needs. The international market for this invention has been analyzed along side the development project, and it shows great potential and we have already found several potential international customers.

Approach and implementation

The project was implemented by CBot, with continuous dialogue with tilers from one of Sweden´s largest tiling entrepreneurs to have a clear customer focus in development. During development, we have gradually increased the functionality and degree of difficulty to achieve the various milestones; demonstrator, mobile demonstrator and function prototype. Testing and evaluation have been continuous. During field tests, we have also had cooperation with SBUF and representatives from Skanska, Strabag, as well as the industry associations Golvbranschen and Byggkeramikrådet.
