Important results from the project

The project objective was to support a more efficient construction production by developing tools that can replace today´s drawing management with digital alternatives. The main goal of the project was to develop new functionality for merging 2D and 3D objects into a digital twin where all information from the various source files will be easily accessible via Augmented Reality applications. With the new release that was developed, these functions are now available as part of the cloud platform.

Expected long term effects

The project has succesfully delivered both an updated version of both the cloud platform, which can now process both 2D and 3D content and merge these into a digital twin, and the client application which now can display both 2D and 3D views and seamlessly switch between them. The expected effect of this is that the platform is perceived as available for a larger share of project. As the pandemic has made the possibility of on-site tests more difficult, we have not yet been able to carry out a complete evaluation in actual projects, something we hope can be resumed after the summer.

Approach and implementation

The project has used an agile development methodology where the goals were known before the project started, but where the project deliveries were gradually clarified during the project. This has once again proved invaluable as several elements, including efficient display of 2D in combination with 3D, resulted in significantly more extensive research and development work than originally planned. Thanks to the flexible project planning, these elements have then been able to be delivered without consuming more project resources over the project´s duration.
