Important results from the project

The project´s results highlight the importance of having targeted skills development programs in companies - both automation companies, manufacturing SMEs and companies that purchase automation solutions. Technology development is fast, and at the same time there are higher eligibility requirements for flexible solutions, i.e automation solutions that can be reused or modified. The circular economy require automation solutions that can contribute to traceability in the value chain.

Expected long term effects

In the long term, the project can contribute to different companies being able to collaborate to deliver automation solutions, to customers accepting that companies collaborate in developing a solution, and to training courses for both industrial employees and academia to a greater extent highlighting automation in different ways.

Approach and implementation

The project manager defined different sub-projects and engaged 2 groups of students to highlight two different perspectives on the challenge of automation. The project manager was in contact with the companies in the project who contributed information. The student groups carried out two different studies - an internal on how to develop an automated material handling linked to kitting, and one on automation capabilities. The project manager carried out dissemination to AutomationSmåland.
