Purpose and goal
Varberg municipality has strong ambitions to create a framework that supports the transition to a circular economy. Through highlighting opportunities and dialogue in the framework of the activities in the project, and together with experts from RISE Institute in sustainable business, Varberg will be able to challenge existing structures. The project will provide the foundation for a framework for circular transition in the entire Halland region. The transition to a circular economy is in line with the vision for Varberg and the mission for Halland to create the best place to live.
Expected results and effects
In the long run, the project will provide business benefits by contributing to more viable companies with, which have begun their transformation into circular business models. We will highlight good role models to inspire others to invest in sustainability. The potential benefit of society lies in stimulating behavioral change and reducing consumption. For the municipality of Varberg, it is important to continue the development of the whole city based on a strong sustainable dimension and to develop methods and frameworks for a more resource-efficient business community.
Planned approach and implementation
The Municipality of Varberg coordinates the ARENA project in cooperation with RISE Institute. Contributing project partners are six companies with strong sustainability focus in Varberg. As a support, the project has a reference group representing a broad competence in sustainability, and whose network can broaden the partnership and sanction work internally within the municipality and in corporate networks. The project is divided into 5 phases; mapping, awareness raising activities, circular business models, collaborative forms and dissemination of results.
