Important results from the project

The goal of increasing awareness of the innovation-promoting services and tools available for researchers to validate their research results is definitely fullfilled. The results from the VFT projects have directly contributed to strengthening the entrepreneurs´ business development. The financial support has played a crucial role in the early phase of the innovation work, where the ability to quickly evaluate and validate new ideas has been central to continued progress.

Expected long term effects

Increased societal benefit from research is achieved by inspiring more researchers to transform their results into practical applications. When research results are used in concrete contexts, research becomes more relevant and accessible to the public. Collaboration between academia and industry plays a key role. Training in innovative thinking and identifying practical applications strengthens the role of researchers and this contributes to creating an entrepreneurial approach within academia.

Approach and implementation

VFT funds have been used based on the needs identified in each project, where verification efforts have been guided by customer and market validation and early projects have been able to develop towards more concrete and sustainable business models. For research-intensive and deep-tech-based innovations, often led by academic researchers, the innovation work has been adapted to the researcher´s available time, capacity and ambition to run the project in parallel with their academic mission.
