Important results from the project

The goal of the VFT funds has been to increase awareness of the innovation-supporting services and tools offered within the university and to create better conditions for researchers to practically apply their important research results. In addition to verifying the feasibility of the business idea, the results achieved directly contribute to strengthening the entrepreneurs´ business operations. This financial support is crucial for early evaluation, verification and validation of innovations.

Expected long term effects

Increased societal benefit of research and inspire more researchers to convert results into practical applications. Contribute to solutions to societal challenges, environmental problems, health care and sustainable development. The research will be more accesable. Cooperation between academia and industry through networks. Researchers as agents of change through training in innovative thinking and the ability to identify practical applications can create an entrepreneurial mindset.

Approach and implementation

VFT funds have been used depending on the innovation project´s challenges and the need for verification efforts has been identified through customer and market validation. Customer analyzes have helped early projects to develop concrete business models. The research-heavy innovations that are driven by academically affiliated researchers need to be adapted to the researcher´s time, ability and ambition to be able to run the innovation work in parallel with their academic mission.
