Important results from the project
Rosenkvarn has developed FarmUp - an app that makes it easy to shop locally produced food. Our goal is to shorten the food chain and make it more profitable for the small to medium-sized producers to run their operations. We see it as critical to move towards a more sustainable food consumption system where food production is a major part of the climate impact. FarmUp is now running tests on Gotland and will soon be available in the rest of Sweden. In the future we want to offer our service internationally. Here we look at countries such as Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and Austria.
Expected long term effects
We have developed the service from the ground up and released it according to schedule. The app is now available for download on the App store and Play store. We have 15 Gotlandish producers connected to the service and will shortly start selling on a smaller scale to test the system. FarmUp will increase the amount locally produced food that is consumed, reduce transport distances and make it more attractive and profitable to conduct food production on a smaller scale. FarmUp enables producers to scale up their businesses and gives consumers an easy way to purchase locally produced food.
Approach and implementation
We have followed the design and strategy we presented in our Start Report. We have developed a prototype that we tested with producers and consumers on Gotland. Based on their wishes and insights, we have made changes to the service and tailored it to their actual needs. After that test phase, we have worked on the actual service that we have now also released. We have also produced the material (agreements, websites etc.) described in our application. We now continue to work agile in further developing the service based on the data we receive when we now test the service on a smaller scale.
