Project duration May 2023 - May 2025
Status Ongoing

Call SIP InfraSweden - autumn 2022: Adapting the transport infrastructure to meet climate change

Important results from the project

The primary objective has been to enhance knowledge of the five perspectives of requirements that Eurocode (the European design standard) provides tools for verification and control. The project developed an iterative design process with a sustainability focus (IDP) that enables the optimization of technical solutions, considering future eligibility requirements. The project formulates guidance on the Observational Method, prescriptive rules, robustness, sustainability and climate adaptation.

Expected long term effects

The project results will be included in the guidelines and courses that IEG 2.0 will implement from 2026 onwards. The results are thus expected to create increased knowledge in the industry, which provides the conditions for new ways of working. The iterative dimensioning process with a sustainability focus (IDP), the Observational method, and prescriptive rules are tools that facilitate for the industry to utilize the entire available innovation space within the regulations

Approach and implementation

To ensure that the most suitable people from the various actors could focus on the project, it was required that large parts of the work be carried out during joint working days (focus days). This proved to be crucial to the project´s progress. Focus days created good dialogue and an exchange of experiences, which were disseminated to IEG members through webinars and later formulated into reports. Availability and time are always a challenge, but the project managed to prioritize together.
