Important results from the project

The project successfully dyed 50 meters fabric with Mounid’s algae ink in an industrial-like setting at the Swedish School of Textiles pilot production. This milestone enables an introduction of algae ink as an exclusive dyeing solution for cotton. The project results drive further development toward large-scale production, capital, and business growth. Additionally, the project has expanded a global network within the textile industry, creating better conditions for future implementation.

Expected long term effects

By building on the project results and further develop the algae ink into a solution for large-scale production for the textile industry, opening for new commercial opportunities within textiles and other sectors. Production at scale, is expected to positioning Mounid on the global market and to help reduce the use of harmful chemicals, at the same time enabling for circular value chains, sustainable production and consumption.

Approach and implementation

Continuous development of the algae ink at RISE by iterative testing in lab-scale dyeing machine. Industrial simulation was made on two occasions, 7 meters and 50 meters, at the Swedish School of Textiles. Documentation, follow-up, and strategic decisions were crucial. Customer meetings were held to discuss needs and requirements. Regular internal meetings and external meetings with the industry were conducted. The work also included pitch presentations and preparations for market and capital.
