Purpose and goal
The project aims to establish the Swedish Excellence Cluster AI for Education and Lifelong Learning (AI-4-ELL), uniting key national partners to shape the future of AI-enhanced learning. Its goal is to co-create a common vision, strategy, and roadmap for how AI can strengthen education, inclusion, mental health, and lifelong learning. By integrating research, industry, and public institutions, the project lays the foundation for an international leading position for Swedish education technology.
Expected effects and result
The project will result in a concrete vision, organizational framework, and collaboration platform for the next phase of AI-4-ELL. It will deliver a strategic plan defining partnership, funding mechanisms, and focus areas. Expected effects include strengthened Swedish innovation capacity, digital sovereignty, and educational equity. The project promotes sustainable growth, inclusion, and mental resilience while positioning Sweden as a global frontrunner in AI-driven lifelong learning.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will run from October 2025 to March 2026, led by RISE in close collaboration with AI Sweden, Linköping University, Swedish Edtech Industry, and the University of Gothenburg. The work includes workshops, partnership and synergy meetings with other clusters, and development of work packages for the next phase. Activities focus on refining the vision, defining financial models, and preparing a complete proposal to Vinnova for AI-4-ELL’s continued development.
