Important results from the project

Agrifood Data Workshop (ADW) is a national data workshop aimed at simplifying and securing the use and sharing of data, as well as promoting innovations within the agrifood supply chain. The workshop has provided support, tools, and methods to enhance competence and data-driven innovation among actors wishing to share data in the agrifood supply chain. The focus has been on the secure and efficient sharing of data according to the Data Governance Atc, and a prototype tool for automatic data classification and publication, called “The Washing Machine,” has been demonstrated.

Expected long term effects

Food production generates a significant amount of data from various actors, complicating data sharing along the food chain. The Data Governance Act, effective from September 2023, mandates that authorities make data available for machine reading, necessitating new routines. The project has enhanced knowledge and understanding of data sharing requirements among authorities. This will impact their future work, requiring time and resources to implement new data sharing routines, ultimately affecting the entire food chain.

Approach and implementation

The project was coordinated by RISE and carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Board of Agriculture, Sensative, and Hopsworks. Experts from various domains were represented in the project’s seven work packages, with their leaders forming the steering group. An external reference group included representatives from Agronod, Kodatalabbet (Växa), the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. The pandemic and new legislation presented both challenges and opportunities.
