Purpose and goal

To enable environmental calculations regarding transport chains in present business administrative systems supporting shippers and transport service providers. The advanced routing module and NTMCalc web service offers a platform that enables other business administrative systems like ´Transport Management Systems, TMS´ (buyer of transport services) and ´Fleet Management Systems, FMS´ (transporting companies) to include new solutions. Through this platform these systems can monitor and support the follow-up transport environmental and climate performance.

Expected results and effects

The project developed a transparent and credible module for routing in NTMCalc that is accessible through web service which makes it possible to estimate environmental performance in other existing administrative systems and other applications. At present the routing module has been built in a TMS with very good functionality. The expected effect is that environmental calculations through this integration will make these analyses more common. This will also liberate resources to carry out more focus on improvement work.

Planned approach and implementation

NTMCalc Routing Module is based on: - A routing coordinator linking sub routing services enabling a full transport chain: - Air routing is based on great circle distance - Sea routing is based on Vessel tracker Web Service - Road routing is based on DPS Web Service - Rail routing is based on road routing and a correction factor - A port and airport register with geo coordinates in order to localize these nodes nearby pick-up and delivery address.
