Important results from the project
The main purpose of the project is partly to identify key factors that can stimulate an increased number of industry-sponsored clinical trials in Sweden, partly to produce a concrete basis with proposals on how these can be implemented in a scalable and nationally sustainable structure. The long-term goal for the project is to contribute to increasing the number of industry-sponsored trials, which benefits patients and all actors involved.
Expected long term effects
Five key proposals were developed to stimulate an increased number of industry-sponsored clinical trials in Sweden. Each proposal contained three concrete measures with proposals for the responsible actor. The proposals were also divided at regional and national level. The project has involved the pharmaceutical industry, the Government Offices, Authorities, Regions, Hospitals and Industry associations. The report will be used by several actors as a basis for concretely discussing how Sweden should reverse the trend and what a region can and needs to do
Approach and implementation
To answer the project´s main questions, focus interviews were conducted with various actors involved in clinical trials and life science. A total of 30 semi-structured interviews were conducted digitally. Through affinity diagrams, data were then clustered in different subject areas to systematize and analyze the material.
