Project duration | June 2014 - February 2015 |
Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
The project has developed a new type of synchronization to meet the requirements of precise timing from today´s and tomorrow´s intelligent networks, e.g. 4G and 5G networks and the smart grid. The project has developed the technology in collaboration with several partners and customers. A first femtocell manufacturer has designed in our technology and others have it under evaluation. Volume production has begun and the operator that is the end customer has launched it into commercial operation. Everything within eight months.
Expected results and effects
The concept of the Gateway Clock has been well received by operators in both telecoms and power industries. One customer has based its femtocell design on our solution, which is now produced in volume. Based on customer interest to make better use of all available sources of precise time and frequency, we will continue to develop this technology on the now developed platform.
Planned approach and implementation
The project covered four phases, where the first phase specified the function of Gateway Clock. Phase 2 implemented the functionality on our hardware prototype. In phase 3 functionality was verified and demonstrated for the customer. In phase 4 the prototype was industrialized and prepared for volume production.
