Important results from the project
The project´s goals have been met – and exceeded expectations. The narrative prototype presented at Kulturnatten 2025 was very well received and engaged residents of Lund, academia, business owners, and politicians. Following the event, we published our catalogue and film on the website Lund2039.se. Other key outcomes included concrete measures in Lund to enhance walkability, as well as an increased interest in the development of streets and public spaces in the city centre.
Expected long term effects
We expect a clearer focus on the pedestrian perspective in the planning of mobility in Lund. We anticipate that the pedestrian perspective will be more strongly represented in discussions on mobility, and that these conversations will lead to tangible improvements. We hope to see a systematic approach to studying pedestrians and their needs. We also expect concrete measures in the urban space, such as improved street furniture, more greenery, better lighting, and enhanced walking surfaces.
Approach and implementation
We carried out the project according to plan: Knowledge about walkability through literature review and interviews with experts. Workshops with local shopkeepers and property owners. Developed a worldview for 2039. Planned the narrative future prototype: script, illustrations, exhibition, and catalogue. Delivered the narrative future prototype as a live event. Summarised and compiled knowledge and results, including website and presentations Collaboration and outcomes exceeded expectations.
