Purpose and goal

Our vision is a Lund with the courage to implement the major changes required to become a climate-positive society, specifically in the area of mobility. The project aims to strengthen the city center with new mobility concepts and for walkability, and to de-dramatize the mobile shift through methods such as narrative prototypes, audiovisual experiences and images of Lund 2039. The project collaborates globally and locally to create visions of a sustainable and dynamic urban environment.

Expected effects and result

The year is 2039, and Lund has awarded The Walkscape Award, a prestigious international prize for innovative efforts to create pedestrian-friendly sustainable urban environments. Through public talks and audio-guided walks, we show how Lund´s city center has been transformed into a model for the urban living environments of the future. The exhibition shows future images of how Lund is less car dependent and has created new opportunities for trade, culture, everyday life and climate resilience.

Planned approach and implementation

The project group begins with global interviews on walkability and mobility, which then becomes a basis for local workshops in Lund, a dialogue that includes the foresight method future forecasting cone. The results in the form of scenarios for future use of three locations in Lund are illustrated and described. For Kulturnatten 2025, when the event and exhibition will be held and the project´s results will be shown to a wider audience, images, film, event and audio material will be prepared.
