More about Climate Contract 2030

The first Swedish contracts were signed in 2020, and the movement to accelerate climate change in cities is growing and gaining momentum. In 2025, Viable Cities will continue to mobilize together with cities and authorities, including now 48 cities across Sweden, home to approximately 50 percent of the country’s population. On December 5, 2025, 48 Swedish municipal chairmen and directors general from six authorities will, for the fifth year, come together and sign a revised and more ambitious Climate Contract 2030, or a declaration of intent. For the first time, cities are also coordinating their efforts in joint commitments to accelerate climate change.
