Accelerated transition to sustainable road transport

Organised by: FFI och Ny Teknik Education
Digitally Fri 5 Dec 2025 at 09:00-10:45

In the fifth episode of FFI's webinar series, which is done in collaboration with Ny Teknik Education, experts meet to show how large-scale demonstration projects are already paving the way for a fossil-free and sustainable transport system.

This web page has been machine translated. If there are any uncertainties, please refer to the Swedish text.

We show, among other things:

  • Project where innovation and system solutions for transportation are tested in a real environment – with the goal of enabling a full-scale transformation of the transportation system.
  • Lessons learned from business, academia and government that together pave the way for the transport system of the future.
  • Collaboration as the key to system innovation – where technology, business models, infrastructure and policy meet. FFI's unique platform makes this possible and shows the way, from forestry transportation to long-distance electrified trucks and urban freight transport.

Agenda

Block 1 – Large-scale system transformation

Here we will see how project like REEL 2, E-Charge 2 and TREE are showing the way to full-scale electrification of heavy transportation – from regional logistics to the heaviest flows in forestry. The focus is on how we scale up and connect technology, energy and business.

Participating: Elisabeth Hörnfeldt, Catharina Zajcev, Susanne Fornander, Andreas Josefsson och Anna Pernestål

Block 2 – From long-distance truck trains to urban deliveries

We are taking the next step – system innovation. Project like DHEELS, ELMAS and HITS 3 are testing everything from HCT vehicles and urban logistics to autonomous transportation in winter environments. This is about how the entire system should work together – technology, infrastructure, business models and regulations.

Participating: Nikita Zaiko, Fredrik Cederstav, Isabella Sahlbom, Cilli Sobiech, Pia Kristiansson, Susanne Fornander

Conclusion – Expert panel and closing reflections

Finally, we invite you to a panel discussion with insights and reflections.

Cast: Elisabeth Hörnfeldt, Peter Mårdberg, Susanne Fornander and Ulf Ceder.
