Zero vibration injuries Upscaling for a sustainable working life

Reference number

Project duration September 2021 - March 2025
Status Completed
Venture Calls within the Hållbar Industri area
Call Upscaling for a sustainable industry

Important results from the project

A major breakthrough was the introduction of the declaration of high-frequency shock vibrations in the EU´s new Machinery Regulation. Commercial solutions are now available on the market for vibration reduction, such as the ATVA technology patented by RISE, the vibration isolation material Shockred4 and insulated anvils. RVM10 has been manufactured in 5 copies and sold in Sweden and USA. Information dissemination about the vibration area is carried out through the Nordic network NollVibCentrum.

Expected long term effects

Vibration injuries will decrease. It has an effect on many people because it is a common occupational disease in Sweden and in large parts of the Western world. When commercial solutions are spread, there will be fewer harmful machines on the market. The new machinery regulation that draws attention to high-frequency shock vibrations gives machine manufacturers an incentive to reduce them, and gives machine users the opportunity to make demands. "Machines do not need to vibrate and harm people"

Approach and implementation

The project has been extensive, with many different types of activities, such as vibration mapping, development of vibration measures, measurement systems and standardization. Despite this, it has worked very well. A strength of the project has been the fantastic consortium that represents all stakeholders around the problem in society, including machine manufacturers, machine users, researchers in technology and medicine, trade union organizations and the Swedish Work Environment Authority.
