Project duration June 2013 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to create an easy way for universities, museums and public institutions and visitor attractions to easily participate in remote presentations on climate data. The project has been executed according to plan. Our user base now has access to a) a fast way to distribute and consume climate data b) an easy frontend for producing and delivering remote presentations and c) a backend to share such presentations with other institutions. All to the benefit of the approximately 20 million people visiting our customers every year.

Results and expected effects

The concrete goal was that the project should generate technical competitive edges that created a direct growth for the company. We concluded already in the 2013 fiscal reports that such a growth could be shown. The forecast for 2014 suggests that the growth target of 10 Mkr annually, compared to earlier forecasts before this project existed, will be reached.

Approach and implementation

The execution plan had four major steps, Distribution, Presentation, Optimization and Product Packaging. The Distribution was achieved through a Tiled Web Map Service. The Presentation through a new user interface released to the market through Uniview 2.0. Optimization was about making it easy for users to join ongoing sessions, which has resulted in a new backend for remote presentations. Product Packaging was about packaging the technology, which has happened in phases and was finalized through the release of Uniview 2.0.
