Important results from the project
The purpose was to strengthen the competence of researchers and Grants office personnel as well as other staff at Swedish universities in what open science is and how it could be applied in project applications to the European Framework Programme Horizon 2020 and the new Horizon Europe programme. The large number of workshops, 12, and the number of participants, 380 persons, have generated more knowledge about open science in the target group. The transition to online workshops during the pandemic enabled participation from other target groups and more external speakers than planned.
Expected long term effects
The transition to online training in 2020 increased the opportunity to conduct more workshops and reach out to other target groups than planned. The workshops have thus generated more interest in open science. We have also reached out to other, new target groups such as public engagement officers, regional actors and authorities. The project has thus increased knowledge about open science at different levels and within different organisations in society. The training material produced during the project is now the basis for the digital toolbox for open science that VA is developing.
Approach and implementation
More than 380 participants participated in 12 workshops that were run in collaboration with the universities. 6 face-to-face workshops were planned at the beginning of the project, but the transition to online training, due to the pandemic, made it possible to carry out more. This also resulted in more participants. The content was designed based on the needs of the target groups and the workshops were run in Swedish or English. Representatives from different parts of the universities, local projects and external speakers as the European Commission have participated in the training.
