Purpose and goal

The purpose of this project was to develop a novel and scientifically-based process guide a roadmap - for sustainable business development. Our idea was that this roadmap would help companies understand what the Anthropocene means for their business ventures, and identify where the leverage points are to sustainable growth. Our goal was to have a prototype of the roadmap ready for pilot testing by the end of this project phase. This has been achieved and pilot testing of the Delta model, which is the name of our process-guide, is already underway in a larger company in Sweden.

Expected results and effects

The project has strengthened our belief that the Delta model could play an important role in leveraging a sustainability transformation of the buisness sector. However, the lessons we have learnt has led us to change our own theory of how we get there. When the proposed solution is radically different from what is already out there, and what users expect it to be, the implementation of our model, all the way from marketing and trust building to supporting the actual work, becomes essential for a break-through. Therefore, we will continue our work by building capacity for implementation.

Planned approach and implementation

The project work was organized in four different work packages: 1) an analysis of what the current market for our roadmap like this looks like, 2) further development of the content, 3) design and marketing, and 4) preparation for pilot testing and upscaling. The work has progressed smoothly and without any major obstacles. We have especially benefited from networking with different business representatives, such as executive directors, investors, and sustainability managers. This interaction has helped us shape the project and focus our continued work process.
