Reference number
Coordinator VIKTORIA SWEDISH ICT AB - Viktoria Swedish ICT AB - Göteborg
Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 350 000
Project duration April 2014 - September 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project was to develop and test models and methodology, so that the processes before, during and after innovation contests can be understood and controlled to achieve desired effects. The project has fulfilled its goal without major deviations. The lessons learned from VIPP + has been used to design four new innovation contests: Electricity Innovation Challenge, Olympic City Transport Challenge, Goods Distribution Challenge, Volvo Trucks Open Innovation Challenge and two funded continuation projects: SHOP and ECOSTRAT.

Expected results and effects

The main result consists of a process for organizers of open digital innovation contests featured in a book and twelve academic publications. The process´ three phases and ten activities cover the contest and its aftermath, and how the effects should be measured. The activities consist of a number of frameworks, models, methods and guidelines. The project´s industrial partners have improved their ability and understanding to organize open digital innovation contests in line with the objectives of the project. Several organizations have applied the results of the project.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been carried out during two and a half years and was organized into eight work packages. The plan has essentially been kept. Data collection and publication is far beyond expectations, which means that the project has provided a good empirical basis for further research.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
