Important results from the project
In total 70 ideas from the University of Gothenburg have been given the chance to build validated cases that make them presentable to the next recipient, e.g. an incubator, external company or other org., investor, or customer. Of these, an average of 4 per year have been accepted into an incubator and another 10 have progressed in other ways, e.g. by starting companies without support from the incubator or entering into collaborations that allow the idea to be resourced and developed further.
Expected long term effects
New knowledge-intensive university spin-offs, as well as innovative research-based solutions that are otherwise transferred and applied in existing industry and society, are vital for us as a society to be able to deal with global, regional and local societal challenges. VFT enables a shift from research results and data to concrete and validated business ideas and use cases that bridge the gap between research and application.
Approach and implementation
Both project organization and human resources have changed quite drastically during the current program period, which has resulted in a process that is much more purposeful and quality-assured, as well as more co-owned and less dependent on individuals.
