Purpose and goal
Repos Mjukvara AB (Repos) has found that the market for its existing Document Management platform can be expanded into communication tools inspired by LEAN methodology. A business plan has been validated to have growth potential. Important aspects of IT-based LEAN tools have been identified: simple, user oriented, visual. The tools must also guarantee global availability and traceability. The project has lead to software requirements but also to running pilots and a commercial implementation.
Results and expected effects
The result indicates significant growth potential in the identified segment, which is a new market for this company. Repos´ existing platform can be enhanced to better support traceability and visualization while utilizing current strengths in structured data management. New markets would include both visual planning tools and knowledge management.
Approach and implementation
Outsourced work has yielded good results in business development, competitor analysis and marketing. Recruiting thesis students has been challenging for Repos but successful through Chalmers as partner. Thesis work has been replaced by recruited students, resulting in good research output though with three months´ delay.
