Important results from the project

The purpose of the demonstrator project has been to develop, manufacture and test a 13,5 m long, highly efficient compactor trailer of approx. 70 m3 for primarily agricultural purposes, based on a new long-stroke, compact and low-oil actuator technology (see www.flexrow.com). The project goal in the form of fewer and safer driving and unloading (without tipping movement), an increased climate benefit and a more transport-efficient agriculture has largely been achieved.

Expected long term effects

The new compactor creates the prerequisites for transport-efficient and safer agriculture, for reduced use of fossil fuels and better utilization of material consumption for components. The Flexrow technology applied to compactors contributes to reduced climate emissions and it strengthens Swedish competitiveness in the field of climate-friendly agricultural technology. Compactor technology has potential to improve Sweden´s competitiveness in transport logistics, but also to create international collaborations, export opportunities and new job opportunities for SME.

Approach and implementation

The project has been divided into the following work packages: 1. Concept selection based on previous project, 2. Detailed construction, drawing work, programming and manufacturing (sheet metal cutting, bending and welding, etc.) of the compactor, 3. Construction and assembly of the demonstrator, and 4. Testing in workshop lab. and field trials. 5. Evaluation and report writing. Project meetings have been held continuously with all project members.
