Purpose and goal

The overall aim of this project is to develop, implement, evaluate and spread value-based reimbursement models for the field of psychiatry. This specific project could be labeled a planning phase that included a mapping of the psychiatric disease spectrum, the selection of suitable diagnoses, an environmental analysis and connecting competence to the project to optimize the work onwards. Depression and Bipolar Disease were chosen as the two best-suited diagnoses for our project.

Results and expected effects

We exceeded expectations on the project as we reached our set goals and additionally deliver more thorough environmental analysis, which weren´t strictly related to our goals but still relevant to the project going forward. In short we have delivered: a diagnose evaluation, stakeholder analysis, risk analysis, definition of patient value in psychiatry, communication plan and spreading plan. We have furthermore established promising relationships with similar projects providing a strong potential for mutual learning.

Approach and implementation

The project has been organized around three groups: A steering group manages the project towards set goals and continuously follow-up the work. A working group leads the daily work and has participants from the payers, providers and users as well as from research. A reference group acts as are consultants for the working group and also participate in key meetings as well as in the spreading process. This organization has worked well and generated high-quality results in a time- and cost-efficient way.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
