User and open innovation in Maker spaces and 3d-printing

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to increase research and education capabilities in open innovation and user innovation. This has also been done by joint research, supervision and seminars. Contacts with Professor George Kuk has been established with researchers in the Faculty of Engineering, the School of Economics and Management and doctoral students at the national research school Management and IT. However, Professor Kuk has changed employer during the project and the conditions for a more institutional collaboration is now uncertain.

Expected results and effects

Intended effects : Increase research capacity in open innovation and expand the international research network . Contributions from the project: By increasing supervision capacity and the ability to plan research projects in the field the capacity has been increased. In addition to contact with Professor Kuk himself, he has also been able to convey other international contacts in the field to myself, my PhD-cancidate and other PhD-students. A research article on 3D hubs has been presented at a research conference and is now under revision prior to submission for publication.

Planned approach and implementation

The planned activities; seminars, teaching graduate courses , study visits, supervision of doctoral students, planning and implementation of a research project, writing a paper, presentation at academic conferences have been implemented according to plan. Contacts between researchers at Lund University and the National Graduate School of Management and IT and Professor Kuk has been established. The planned continuation of the collaboration with a study of Swedish maker spaces have been postponed as Professor Kuk have changed employer to another British university.
