Important results from the project
The project aim has been to further develop the test bed GLUS for development of metallic materials - and to stimulate increased usage from universities. The project included several workshops which have resulted in new collaborations between research institute and university. The test bed was used to verify theoretical ab initio calculations of elastic properties at high temperatures, which is a unique possibility. The work has resulted in an article which will expose the test bed possibilities for further potential users.
Expected long term effects
The test bed is unique in an international perspective and the aim has been to expose the test bed possibilities also for international potential collaboration partners and customers. The test bed was presented at two international seminars which resulted in large interest from both industry and potential research partners. Discussions of participation in European project applications are ongoing - with the test bed as a central resource. An international ultra-sonic conference will be held I Stockholm this autumn - which will give the possibility to further expose the testbed.
Approach and implementation
The project was performed in collaboration with and support from the RISE ToD project. The RISE project offered good opportunities to share experiences with other test bed owners - and also support in the form of relevant courses and coaching. IPR related issues was of special concern for this project, and especially the possibility to protect in-house developed algorithms for signal processing. Workshops also gave the possibility to discuss and understand how the test bed could be developed to further increase industrial benefit to grow the number of future users.
