Important results from the project

Today´s school is often exclusive to children with intellectual and cognitive disabilities. We are offering a solution to this. We have, in collaboration with three schools for students with and without disabilities, developed new pedagogical tools that optimize learning for all students. The tools are assembled in the new method material "Universell normkreativ pedagogik" which helps other proffesionals to work with norm-creative pedagogy to maximize inclusivity, learning and greater goal fulfillment for every pupil, regardless of abilities.

Expected long term effects

We have created an innovation in the form of a method material with new norm-creative tools that expand accessibility in different learning environments. The method material is practical and easy to understand, with the child in focus, which makes it easier for to mix students with different needs and thus make the teaching integrated from the beginning. It promotes inclusivity and reduces social exclusion by maximizing the opportunity for learning for all students. It can lead to a more equal society based on the full participation of every citizen, regardless of ability.

Approach and implementation

We have conducted research with teachers and experts, as well as questionnaires and exercises with students with and without disabilities to identify needs, difficulties, interests, and wishes. In exchange between students with and without disabilities, we have developed, tested and documented new pedagogical tools based on the target groups´ interests, such as creating their own emojis, scripts, films, designing their own sweets, digital pen pals, etc. The tools have been compiled in a 28-page method material, with photos, and instructions, which is ready to be distributed.
