Important results from the project

The project developed a Universal Basic Nutrient Income Programme prototype, engaging citizens through farming, future dinners, and food box deliveries to cardiovascular patients. It showcased how speculative policy design can shape understanding of future climate impacts on food systems. All deliverables were met, sparking widespread interest on social media and in exhibitions. Municipalities and organizations are now considering these concepts for future implementation in forums and programs.

Expected long term effects

Long-term goals include establishing programs for equitable access to healthy foods, creating credit systems linked with work benefits, and developing local currencies for food transactions. The aim is to eliminate barriers to sustainable eating, inspire innovative city projects for free nutrient-rich food access, engage broader audiences on dietary impacts, and enhance food and soil health using cutting-edge research.

Approach and implementation

The FoodBank (WP1) and Malmo Food Environment mapping were completed. The foresight workshop (WP3), modified following Vinnova´s suggestion, became a participatory Future Dinner where participants experienced different food scenarios and farming event. The institutional design (WP4) explored "Food 4 Work" and "Food as Medicine" programs. Additionally, a UBNI food box was delivered to cardiovascular patients, with dissemination (WP6) attracting significant attention on social media and seminars.
