Purpose and goal
The project aims to build one of the best life science incubators and create the conditions for research with commercial potential to develop into growing companies that create jobs in Sweden.
Expected results and effects
By 2017, the UBI has evaluated 24 new business ideas and incubated 24 business ideas in the incubator, where nine have been corporate, the rest of the business ideas are run as UBI incubator projects. During the year, UBI has completed the construction of the Financing phase and five companies have begun that process. In 2018, the incubator projects and companies have attracted MSEK 27 in funding both soft and hard resources and 18 jobs have been created.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is run within Umeå Biotech Incubator, where the goal is to offer innovators the best business development support for developing growing companies. The development of the improved Financing phase gave effects already druing autumn in two of the companies and we see that the interest of large companies and investors is great for our incubator companies.
