Important results from the project

UIC has developed companies with high growth potential into scalable, sustainable companies with international potential. The incubator program has been strengthened with new efforts in deeptech, digitalization, defense innovation and industry-specific support. UIC has become internationally recognized and the work has led to increased access to capital, networks and knowledge for startups in advanced technology areas.

Expected long term effects

Investments in deeptech facilitate market entry for groundbreaking technology and create resources that also benefit fast-growing innovations. Increased international exposure for Swedish startups provides better conditions for attracting expertise, customers and capital. The defense sector is attractive but entails long lead times and high risks. Incubators have a key role in building understanding and collaboration between startups and the defense sector for a sustainable development.

Approach and implementation

The project has been primarily carried out through three business development programs: UIC Startup (pre-incubation), UIC Build (IRL 3-5), UIC Accelerate (IRL 6-8). Overall, the project has been completed as planned. New insights that have led to changes include: - New pre-incubator program (UIC Discover) - Need for new topics that Startups need knowledge in, such as AI, ERP systems and the defense sector. Collaboration in the local and national ecosystem has been strengthened.
